Winners of 16th National Eisteddfod Young Performer Awards Competition announced
The winner of the Gold Medal and R30 000 in cash was the flautists Daniël Spies, a student of Helen Vosloo. He is currently in Grade 8 at Hoërskool Linden.
The Silver Medal and R15 000 in cash went to vocalist, Shani McLea. She is currently a Gr. 9 pupil at Helpmekaar College.
The Bronze Medal and R5 000 in cash went to Minke Marais, currently a Gr. 12 pupil at Hoërskool Noordheuwel. She performed in the Speech and Drama category.
The adjudicator’s panel at the Final Round comprised of Reinette Bouwer, Harold van Buuren, Carmen Pretorius and Shireen Hollier.

The adjudicators also nominated not only 1, but three events in the special category “Most Inspiring Performance”
They were Dawian van der Westhuizen (drama); Labyrinth (dance group from form Parktown High School for Girls) and Emma Strydom (dance).
Winners of 6th NEA Young Artist Award Competition announced
The results of the 6th NEA Young Artist award were also announced at the Roodepoort Theatre on 29 May 2019.
The senior winner of the 2019 Young Artist award was YAEYA KATERINE DUKES, Gr. 11 (Brescia House School)
The winner of the junior (Grade 4 – 7) category was Alexandra Tserkezis, Gr 7 ( Brescia House School)
The winning position in the Foundation Phase category was Kimber Roodt, Gr. 3 – Home School
