How to enter in the National Eisteddfod

A frequently asked question is “What must I do to participate in the National Eisteddfod?”

Please note that ADDING A PARTICIPANT and ADDING ENTRIES for a participant are TWO DIFFERENT PROCESSES.

IMPORTANT: You can ONLY select a participant AFTER you have selected the ITEM NUMBER (more details are provided below.

BEFORE ANY THING ELSE – Please read ad follow the steps below:

Online Registration

There are a few basic steps to follow:

CLICK on the Register / Login button

Creating your ONLINE profile will be determined by the answer to the following questions:

  • are you an individual entering on your own?
  • a parent entering your child?
  • a teacher / representative entering on behalf of a number of participants from a school, studio or community group?

Complete the online form by selecting one of the options on the 1st page:

PART 1 of the Online registration provides for the following options:

  • Individuals / Parents
  • Schools (public & independent)
  • Studios
  • Community Organizations
  • Tertiary Institutions

ONLY authorized representatives of schools / studios may register an Online Profile for a school / institution.

Parents or individuals entering on their own should select the “Individual registration” option.

The Online Profile is utilized for different purposes:

The Online Profiles for SCHOOLS are used as:

  1. BILLING PROFILE: This enables the office to allocate payments to the correct account when students enter and pay under the name of an institution.
  2. INSTITUTIONAL PROFILE: is used to link participants to the correct school in order to ACKNOWLEDGE the institution by printing the name of the school on individual certificates, as well as at the Young Performer Showcase events.

The Online Profiles for STUDIOS are used as:

  1. BILLING PROFILE: This enables the office to allocate payments to the correct account when students enter and pay under the name of a studio.
  2. TRAINER PROFILE: is used to ACKNOWLEDGE studios / trainers by linking the ENTRIES of participants the studio that provides the training. This information will be printed on individual certificates, as well documentation at the Young Performer Showcase events.

The Online Profiles for INDIVIDUALS are used as:

  1. BILLING PROFILE ONLY: This enables the office to allocate payments to the correct account when students enter and pay under the name of a parent.

PART 2 of the Online registration provides for the selection of a province:

PART 3 of the Online registration provides for the selection of a region within the province:

PART 4 of the Online registration provides for the selection of a local area:

The selected local area will determine the VENUES where participation takes place.

PART 5 of the Online registration is of great importance and provides for contact details for the school / studio / individual:

After completing this section, click on the SAVE button. Your user-code and password will now be displayed on the screen. (Make a note of this info and also mail this it to yourself for future reference).

Once you have received this LOGIN details (user-code and password), you will be able to LOGIN.

Click on the LOGIN BUTTON. A new form will be displayed asking for your User code, Password and E-mail. Click on Login

The MAIN menu will now be displayed. It contains all the important buttons. Please pay great attention to the contents of each page as it should guide you through the process. If not clear on a topic, select the Help option at the page.

However, before doing anything else, you should first UPDATE your registration profile (Option 1 on the Main Menu) – important info is required that has an impact on the flow of events.

Once Registered, you can now access the National Eisteddfod Prospectus ONLINE:

This is the section where some get confused! Please note that ADDING A PARTICIPANT and ADDING ENTRIES for a participant is TWO DIFFERENT PROCESSES.

Once you have ADDED or UPDATED your PARTICIPANT, follow the following steps:
# Go back to the MAIN menu and click on ADD / UPDATE Entries 2019
# Next step: Click on ADD new entry
# Next Step: Add the entry number in the empty box and click next or
# Next Step: Select the type of entry (individual, duet, small group, etc), then select the genre and continue until you have selected the complete entry number.
# Next step: Select the participant for the selected item number.

IMPORTANT: The participant(s) is/are selected ONLY AFTER you have selected the ITEM NUMBER.

You can now browse through the various categories that you are interested in. You can also get a bird’s eyes view of the various genres HERE.

The next step is to add individual participants before any entries can be
added.

Important! Please check for existing profiles for any individual as
duplicates can create problems!
